I love it when designers take their inspiration from vintage and antique clothing. Traditional Japanese and Chinese floral motifs were the inspiration behind many of the looks that came down the Spring Summer 2013 runways. Pucci, Gaultier, and Nanette Lepore were among the designers who featured this up-coming summer trend.
Why not go vintage for this one? Add a vintage Asian robe, like the one below, to your wardrobe and wear it over a tee shirt and jeans to cover up on cool summer nights or crisp fall days. Either way, you can’t go wrong with this look. Good fashion never goes out of style and this is one that stands the “test of time!”
What do you get when you pair a vintage bustier with maxi skirts or a floral maxi skirt with an Alice Cooper Tee? Three very different looks that work from day to night.
This bustier also makes an appearance in my last look book….
If you ever come across a vintage bustier, don’t be afraid to buy it. Use it to spice up and “ECLECTIFY YOUR WARDROBE.”
Mad Men is being delayed until 2012, but that doesn’t mean you have to suffer. You can update your wardrobe with pieces from the era.
I found this “Queen of the Nile” 1950s dress at Adore Vintage for $198. It is very classic and beautiful If you like it, scoop it up. It’s vintage so there is only 1!

I do! As a matter of fact, the late 80s and 90s were full of these colorful leather jackets made by Michael Hoban. Under the name North Beach Leather, these jackets hit the streets with a vengeance.
These jackets were so much the rage that Jay-Z rapped about wearing them in 1987 with his 2007 song “Blue Magic.”
Red and green G’s all on my hat
North beach leathers, matching Gucci sweater
Gucci sneaks on to keep my outfit together
So much focus was put on those jackets in the hip-hop community that I was not aware that Michael Hoban also created a line of leather dresses. These dresses are HOT and apparently, I am not the only one who thinks so…..
In 2009, Paris Hilton rocked a red version helping to re-ignite the popularity of these dresses. It is now 2011 and the dresses are still wanted. If you stumble upon one of these now vintage dresses on Ebay, a 2nd hand store, or vintage store, scoop it up! If you can pull it off, they make a great party dress. Even if they fade for awhile I am pretty sure they will make another comeback. One can never really go wrong with a short sexy leather dress!

Fall is fast approaching and it is time to start thinking about our fall/winter wardrobes. Updating your wardrobe with vintage pieces that are on trend may just be the way to go.
One of the major trends that hit the runways in the Fall 2011 shows were Duster Coats. A long loose-fitting coat, dusters were traditionally worn by horsemen to protect their clothing from trail dust and were made by canvas or linen. Later on, both men and women wore them to protect their clothes from dust kicked up when riding in open motorcars.
Labels like Christian Dior and Missoni had great colorful interpretations in their Fall 2011 shows while Cushnie et Ochs went for a more somber approach with a jet black version.
Going vintage for this trend is easy. Most 2nd hand stores have tons of dusters at very very affordable prices. If you are looking for a duster that is a bit more unique or made by a luxury designer, you may have some luck at an actual vintage store or website.
If you decide to incorporate a vintage duster into your wardrobe, I’d love to see it!
