CBGB was a little before my time, but I can remember going by it when I used to hang out in the City.   CBGB as a club officially closed down in 2006 with Patti Smith being the closing performer.  CBGB (along with Debbie Harry) was also the inspiration for one of my design projects.

Are you excited about this as much as I am?!

If I had been a teen/young adult in the 80s, I think I would have dressed like Denise from the Cosby Show.  I am just in love with her free spirited way of dressing.  A kind of hippie urban chic thing.  I rather think that Lisa Bonet incorporated her own style into her character and it works.

To me, Denise (or should I say Lisa) is a style icon.

When I was a little girl, I used to watch “Style with Elsa Klensch” on CNN with my step-mother on the weekends.  Elsa is one of the reasons I love fashion.  Anne of Green Gables (the 1985 movie) is the other!!!!  But I will save my rant on Anne of Green Gables for another post.  Until then, here are some videos I found of Elsa’s show.  (Also, look out for the Super Models of the day!)

Here is a collection I designed that is inspired by Brigitte Bardot.  I really had fun designing this one.  I used the lines from a vintage motorcycle to determine my seam lines.  I would love to have one of these constructed before the fall!

Like many of you, I too love me some Beyonce!  And I really enjoyed her half time performance during yesterday’s Super Bowl.  But, the most fun part for me was her costume and how she ripped off her peplum jacket to reveal a leather and lace teddy!  After viewing her images over and over again today on t.v., something hit me!  Her look was vaguely reminiscent of Apollonia’s purification in Lake Minnetonka!  As a matter of fact, her whole look was a throw back to the days of Apollonia and Vanity 6.  You be the judge.

This past year I learned the art of embroidering.  I love it and can’t wait to add embroidery to my own designs!  Because of this, I was inspired to write this post.  Take a gander of how it was done then and how its done now.
